LONDON EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION (LEYF)
At LEYF, we provide high quality community nurseries in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods across the capital.
I believe that the sector will grow stronger and more confident if it is led by social entrepreneurs. Therefore, I have always supported the work of SEUK and decided to join their Council to further help promote the concept of social enterprise in the UK.
The work that SEUK does is invaluable in supporting the social enterprise movement, and encouraging others to work with the sector for example through the Buy Social campaign, networking, lobbying, conferences, public campaigns and a shared membership.
The more assured and confident our voice, the more we will be listened to by the public and business. I really believe that social enterprise has huge potential to operate within all sectors and demonstrate another way of doing business.
FROM BABIES WITH LOVE
We became a member of SEUK soon after we began trading, but in retrospect we wished we’d joined when we were working on our business plan!
The networking opportunities are significant - we are a member of SEUK’s consumer facing social enterprise group, through which we have met peers and explored ways of working together.
We attend SEUK events, most recently at the House of Commons on Social Enterprise Day. As well as the networking opportunities these events are fantastic ways to find out latest sector news and to help us to participate in the wider change that social enterprise is creating.
We've benefitted from media and communications support, with features in Good Housekeeping magazine, the Mail on Sunday and The Independent.
We have also featured in the Buy Social campaign, in its supply chain guide for private sector businesses, an animation, and Christmas promotions. The comms team are always happy to chat on the phone when we need advice; this 'open door' approach is something we’re very grateful for.
