MUTUALS INFORMATION SERVICE
The Mutuals Information Service signposts public sector staff interested in setting up mutuals and social enterprises towards vital information and help needed to go through the process.
The new MIS brings together information, advice and bespoke support for fledgling mutuals through:
- A web resource to support teams looking to get started on their journey - http://mutuals.cabinetoffice.gov.uk
- An information and case management hotline: 0845 539 0543
- A triaging process that identifies the support needs of potential spin outs and passes those onto the Cabinet Office who will make decisions about access to funding through the Mutual Support Programme - a fund of more than £10million that will enable the most promising and innovative mutuals to spin out and deliver public services in England
Social Enterprise UK is one of a handful of mutuals specialists, part of a consoritum led by PA Consulting Group that have won a competitive tender to deliver the service. Other partners in the consortium include the Employee Ownership Association, Co-operatives UK, and the Office for Public Management.
Social Enterprise UK sits on the Government's Mutuals Taskforce, which aims to ensure that those planning on setting up social enterprises have the best chances to thrive.
