At Social Enterprise UK, we help businesses connect with social enterprise, to help them develop programmes to support the social enterprise sector or by advising them on how to get more social enterprises into their supply chains. We work with household names including PwC, Wates Group, Deloitte, Santander and others. To find out more, download our short brochure for private sector organisations.
AREAS TO CONSIDER WHEN WORKING WITH SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
SUPPLY CHAINS + PROCUREMENT
Changing your procurement suppliers and procedures is a simple way to increase your social impact. Including social enterprises in your supply chain makes your money go further. From catering, cleaning, floristry, mailing services, printers, designers, researchers, office supplies and furniture to manufacturers of all kinds of goods – you name it, there will be a social enterprise that supplies it.
Sign up to the Buy Social Corporate Challenge: This initiative will see a number of pioneering big businesses collectively spend £1bn with social enterprises by 2020. Partners will receive a package of support from Social Enterprise UK. The initiative is being run in partnership with the Cabinet Office and Business in the Community.
Our guide to supply chains provides more information for those interested in buying goods and services from the UK's social enterprise sector. And Social Enterprise UK accredits businesses that are committed to buying from social enterprises.
In January 2013 the Social Value Act came into effect, which requires all public bodies in England, including local authorities, to consider how the services they commission and procure might improve the economic, social and environmental well-being of the area. View our page on social value to find out why the legislation is relevant to private firms delivering public services.
The Landmarc Difference report demonstrates how businesses can respond to the social value agenda (and the Social Value Act) by not only thinking about the way they operate and how they work with the communities around them, but also how they report this in a transparent framework that helps measure both impact and progress.
